Traditional General Education Requirements
Overall Requirements for Graduation
Traditional Programs
- At least 120 credit hours are required for graduation. In some cases, more than 120 hours may be required due to major requirements.
- All students complete a minimum of 30 hours overall of upper division courses.
- For most majors, a minimum of 40% of major coursework must be upper division. Please check individual major requirements for variations.
- A minimum of 40% of major coursework must be completed at Judson.
- All students must meet Judson's 30 hour residency requirement (at least 20 of last 30 hours completed must be in residency).
- For most majors, minimum cumulative and major GPAs of 2.0 are required for graduation. Please check individual major requirements for variations.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for all minors.
- A maximum of 8 hours in physical education activity courses may be applied toward graduation requirements. All activity courses (ESS112 to ESS150) may be repeated once for additional credit.1
- A maximum of 8 hours (24 hours for music majors) of applied music may be counted toward graduation requirements.1

Once a student has matriculated at Judson, they cannot transfer in BST110 Intro to the Christian Bible (3 c.h.), THS110 Christian Faith: Understanding and Application (3 c.h.) or the BST/MIN/THS elective.

International students who do not submit ACT/SAT scores or transfer equivalent courses must take a Judson English placement test to determine their correct placement.

ENG261 Children's Literature (3 c.h.) and ENG264 Adolescent Literature (3 c.h.) are for Elementary and Early Childhood majors. All other majors are required to take a course in the ENG360s or ENG370s.

GEN101 Questions of Life: Entering the Judson Conversation (1 c.h.) is only required for students entering Judson with less than 24 credit hours, not including HS Prep, AP and CLEP.

Transfer and international students who do not submit ACT/SAT scores or transfer equivalents must take a Judson math placement test to determine their correct placement. MAT112 Mathematics for Elementary Educ (3 c.h.) does not meet gen ed requirements.

A non-degreed student who matriculates to Judson with 60 or more transfer hours is expected to complete all general education course requirements as listed above except they are:
- Not required to take a BST/MIN/THS elective course
- Not required to take GEN101 Questions of Life: Entering the Judson Conversation (1 c.h.)
