General Education Goals
Faith Foundations
In support of the institution’s academic goals, through the general education program students will encounter the foundations of Christian faith through critical and disciplined interaction with God’s word and God’s world.
Academic Foundations
In support of the institution’s academic goals, the general education program provides the academic foundation for continued development of practical and intellectual skills. Such skills include critical and creative thinking, information literacy, and effective communication.
Integrative Learning
In support of the institution’s academic goals, through the general education program students will make connections across the academic and faith foundations, applying skills and abilities gained in one situation to explore issues or address problems in other situations.
Overall Requirements for Graduation
Traditional Programs
- At least 120 credit hours are required for graduation. In some cases, more than 120 hours may be required due to major requirements.
- All students complete a minimum of 30 hours overall of upper division courses.
- For most majors, a minimum of 40% of major coursework must be upper division. Please check individual major requirements for variations.
- A minimum of 40% of major coursework must be completed at Judson.
- All students must meet Judson's 30 hour residency requirement (at least 30 hours completed must be in residency).
- For most majors, minimum cumulative and major GPAs of 2.0 are required for graduation. Please check individual major requirements for variations.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for all minors.
- A maximum of 8 hours in physical education activity courses may be applied toward graduation requirements. All activity courses (ESS112 to ESS149) may be repeated once for additional credit. ESS150 may be repeated for 8 credits.1
- A maximum of 8 hours (24 hours for music majors) of applied music may be counted toward graduation requirements.1
